His grandfather was an Imam and as a young boy in the Sahel, he would attend madrasah and study the Quran. During his preparation to leave his village for boarding school, his grandfather told him he would be exposed to many new ideas but was confident that his grandson’s faith in Islam was unshakable.
His grandfather warned him. “You may encounter people called Christians. They have a powerful weapon. It is a black book. Do not read it. This book has changed Muslims.”
Indeed, he encountered a Christian who gave him the black book. Yet, his grandfather’s words stayed with him and he became angry! Yet, instead of throwing the book away, he stored it in his backpack. For four years, he kept it, until one day he began to read the black book. True to his grandfather’s warning, he was forever changed as he encountered Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
